It has taken me about 2 decades to finally come to this fantastic city.
I visited the family of my brother-in-law back in 1995, in Cullera, a city some 40 kilometers south of Valencia. The summer was perfect, the beach and the hospitality of my family there amazing… in short, we never made it to Valencia.
So I took advantage of one of these long May weekends to fly south and visit them again.
But first: two days in Valenica, the third biggest city of Spain. My sister came up to join me, and we spent half a day visiting the amazing architecture of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències.
The City of Arts and Sciences is a modern architectural complex that houses an opera house, the museum of sciences, an Imax cinema, an aquarium and other public spaces and fora. It has become a landmark of Valencia today
It is located at the end of the old riverbed of the Turia river, which was rerouted after a flood in 1957. The former riverbed is now a beautiful park along the city center.
We just wandered around all afternoon, taking picture and enjoying the view of these amazing futuristic buildings. So without much ado, here’s a gallery of the pictures I took.
